My name is Joy and I'm the founder of momsneedanswers.com. I want to start off by giving you a little introduction about myself. Someday, I hope to be married and have children. This forum and blog is for the moms and future moms that are out there.
I live just outside of Manhattan and my full time job is selling genetic testing for pregnant women to physicians. At this time, I'll leave the company's name out of things because I know that there are many companies out there that offer genetic testing and I am not trying to sell or promote a particular brand of testing to you.
I think the benefit of testing is that if you know ahead of time that you’re going to have an affected baby then that could mean you’d choose to deliver in a hospital more equipped with handling a certain type of disease. I would want the absolute best care I could get knowing ahead of time what things were like so that I could be prepared.
Every care facility and every physician is different and what’s offered to you may not be offered or even available to your neighbor in the next town or state. In a nutshell, that's why this forum and blog was started. Just because you may have everything at your fingertips where you live doesn't mean that there's another mom in another part of the country who does. I want women to have options and be prepared with knowledge and information. I'm hoping that this forum is a way for mothers and mothers-to-be to educate each other and share their ideas.
Physicians do not have a lot of time to spend with their patients. This just means that we need to be even more prepared before we walk in the door and have our questions ready. We have to have a certain understanding of what to expect when we arrive and make every minute count.
the forum so that mom's could find what works for others. I've heard of mom's who make green smoothies and somehow get their kids to drink them. I've also heard of kids who would be happy to eat Macaroni and Cheese three times a day. My personal favorite is the "it just tastes better at ___'s house" (insert: Grandma, Suzie, etc). If you have ideas or tale's about foods that have or haven't worked we'd love to hear them!
